Today We Are All Hokies
There have been numerous requests / inquiries regarding memorial products, including t-shirts with the image above. Locke White, Director of Virginia Tech's Office of Licensing, has issued the following statement:
"At this point we have decided that we are not going to allow any type of memorial or tribute products. I believe I know what cartoon it is, and it is very good. But we have been overrun with requests for [tribute and fund-raising] products and we've taken the position not to allow anything just because we would lose control of [our mascot] and lose control of tracking the money. So at this point we’re going to have to say no. At some point in the near future we may be interested in using these products.... Again, we are not allowing them now but we may in the near future."
